Photographers are good at catching you at your best, but to give them what they need, you have to develop an on-camera personality. I'm Emma Lou, and I'm 13 years old. I was born in England, but I've lived in Dallas, Texas since I was 2. I've been acting and modelling for about six years.
I have appeared in print magazines, on city billboards and in national TV commercials as well as some independent films. I am a masters student at Cathryn Sullivan's Acting School in Dallas, where Selena Gomez, Debbie Ryan, and Demi Lovato trained. I am currently filming a pilot episode for a TV series in which I play a lead role.
At first, I was unsure whether modelling was something I wanted to do. I was scared! I have always enjoyed acting because it gives me the chance to become another person for a while, but modelling is about being yourself, and I've not always had confidence in myself.
That all changed about a year ago when I was hired to do a national print and television campaign for a children's hospital. Next minute, my face was all over the television and on billboards. Friends were texting me and sending me Snapchats with pictures of the billboard telling me how cool it was. After that, I thought, maybe modelling is something I can do after all...
